Korean Bulgogi: Sweet and Savory Beef
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) thinly sliced beef (ribeye
or sirloin)
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 pear, grated (or use pear juice)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon mirin (rice wine)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Steamed rice, for serving
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the grated pear (or
pear juice), soy sauce, sugar, mirin, sesame oil, and grated ginger. Mix
well to create the marinade.
- Add the thinly sliced beef to the
marinade, making sure each piece is coated. Marinate for at least 30
minutes (or longer for better flavor) in the refrigerator.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over
medium-high heat. Grill the marinated beef slices for about 2-3 minutes
per side until they are cooked and slightly charred.
- While grilling the beef, add the sliced
onion and chopped green onions to the grill to lightly char.
- Serve the grilled beef and onions over
steamed rice, garnished with sesame seeds.
