Classic American BBQ Ribs
Ingredients:
- 2 racks of baby back pork ribs
- Dry rub (a mixture of brown sugar,
paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper,
and cumin)
- Your favorite barbecue sauce
- Wood chips for smoking (optional)
Instructions:
- Remove the membrane from the back of the
ribs by loosening it with a knife and then pulling it off.
- Rub the dry rub mixture generously over
both sides of the ribs. Wrap them in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at
least 2 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
- If you have a smoker, preheat it to 225°F
(107°C) using your choice of wood chips (such as hickory or applewood) for
added smoky flavor. If not, you can use a grill with indirect heat.
- Place the ribs on the smoker or grill
grates away from direct heat. Close the lid and cook for 3-4 hours, or
until the ribs are tender. You can add more wood chips for smokiness
during the first 2 hours.
- During the last 30 minutes of cooking,
baste the ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce, allowing it to
caramelize and create a sticky glaze.
- Remove the ribs from the smoker or grill
and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Slice between the bones and serve with
extra barbecue sauce on the side.
