Brazilian Brigadeiros: Sweet Chocolate Truffles
Ingredients:
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened
condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
powder
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Chocolate sprinkles or grated
chocolate, for coating
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a non-stick saucepan, combine
the sweetened condensed milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, unsalted butter,
and a pinch of salt.
- Cook the mixture over medium-low
heat, stirring constantly to prevent sticking, until it thickens and pulls
away from the sides of the pan. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove the mixture from heat and
let it cool to room temperature.
- Grease your hands with a bit of
butter, then take small portions of the mixture and roll them into small,
bite-sized balls.
- Roll the balls in chocolate
sprinkles or grated chocolate to coat them evenly.
- Place the brigadeiros in small
paper cups or on a plate lined with wax paper.
- Let them cool and set for a few
hours or overnight.
